The prehistoric and ancient Pallakad Fort is located in the pallakad town of Kerala state. This old granite fort is located in the Southern Hemisphere of India. Most of thr tourists of India love to visit this grand monument so that they can easily gain some knowledge about the tradition and culture of the earlier times. This grand and historic monument of India was built by Haider Ali in 1766 ACE and today, it is one of the most well preserved monuments of India.

It is believed that this grand fort was established many years ago during 1766 AD. This grand and prehistoric monument is also known as the Tipu’s Fort after the name of Tipu Sultan who is the son of Haider Ali. The fort was captured by the Colonel Fullorten in the year 1783. After some time, this fort fell in the hands of the troops of Zamorin and finally, this grand and primordial fort was captured by the British under the British general Colonel Stuart.

The Pallakad Fort was renovated and it continued to be garrisoned till the middle of the 19th century. This primordial fort was converted into a Taluk Office in the year 1990. In the earlier times, this grand monument was also used as a major base for various operations that included the storming of Srirangapatanam.

The Pallakad Fort comprises of a large ground that lies between the Pallakad Town Hall and the Fort. In the earlier times, this large ground was used as a stable and resting area for the elephants and horses of the army. Today, this enormous ground serves as a stage for various exhibitions, cricket matches and public meetings. This primordial monument is also well enhanced with a Rappadi which is an open air auditorium. Today this grand auditorium is under the preservation of the Archaeological Survey of India. There is also a children park which lies at one side of the fort.
